"Meet Our Pewter Pangolin: A Tribute to Mishwa, the Pangolin of Hope"

In a heartfelt tribute to Pangolin Mishwa, whose name means "surprise" in Shona, we share a touching story that unfolded in November 2019.

This remarkable Pangolin's journey began when it was admitted to the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital, after being cruelly poached. During the course of treatment, a heartwarming surprise awaited everyone - little Mishwa came into the world.

Poached Pangolins endure unspeakable hardships and confined to deplorable conditions. They are subjected to days of starvation since they have a very specific diet being foragers.  The resulting stress and hunger pose grave threats to their survival, often leading to the shutdown of vital organs and pre mature births. 

Mishwa was a bundle of hope in a dire crisis but despite the round the clock care, little Mishwa died two days later. We share this poignant story to raise awareness about the plight of these remarkable creatures. In tribute to Mishwa and as a testament to our commitment to wildlife preservation, we present this beautiful Pewter Pangolin.
